You Are Beautiful

To all the women out there:

You. Are. Beautiful. This is not intended to be taken lightly nor zealously. Let me explain...

 


The world would have you believe that beauty is only skin deep. This, so that they can sell you make-ups and creams, baubles and clothing, the cosmopolitan woman. They use technology and marketing to imprint in you the image of this “perfect” woman. Then they try to convince you that your worth is based on your resemblance to that false image. All so that they can get rich by making you “feel” beautiful, as you buy into their idea of beauty.

Don’t believe the lie! You ARE beautiful! You are a creation. A child of God. In that is the greatest of all beauty. A beauty that is often trampled upon by the world. To FEEL beautiful, you need only recognize your God-given beauty. You don’t need make-up or jewelry, or to look like that heavily photoshopped model in the magazine. A simple internet search can reveal the vast wonders of the world. Things to appeal to every human being’s sense of beauty. They are creations of God. None of them are the same. They’re all beautiful, and all in their own way.

So it is with you. Not every person’s beauty is expressed through the genetic lottery. Some, it is through unfailing love, others talent and skill, while others yet through bravery, courage, leadership or perseverance. Perhaps troubled times can’t erode your infectious smile or you’re always there for your friends. Whatever your beauty is, find it. Embrace it. Love it. Be it. And let it shine!

Also be mindful that, just as one person may lose their breath at the glory of a waterfall but be unmoved by the dancing of a fire, different people are attracted to different varieties of beauty. You are beautiful. Cultivate that beauty and ~someone~ will see it. Like a diamond in the rough, you might have to work harder to bring it out, or may need to polish it to a shine, but it is there, it is real, and its radiance is a glory to behold!

Just remember that while looks may win a man’s attention in the moment, they cannot win his love in the end. A real man will love you for the beauty that is you, not for your body. There’s evidence of this all around, from the sad sight of abused women to the wondrous glow of aging couples still very much in love.

As a man, speaking to all the women out there, I give you my kindest regards, my best wishes, and my sincere assurance that YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, regardless of what the world says. Be your own beautiful.
